Why Is a Permit Needed?
Kyrgyzstan is a country with unique mountain landscapes, located on the border with China, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan. Many popular tourist routes, high-altitude lakes, glaciers, and base camps are situated in border areas with special access regulations.
Legal access to such areas requires a border permit issued by the Border Service of the Kyrgyz Republic. The permit is required for both foreigners and Kyrgyz citizens.
